The Juliette Gordon Low Society

"I didn’t have a lot of opportunity growing up in a low-income area of New Orleans. My grandmother funded my first year of Girl Scouts, through cookie sales I was able to continue and I did several years of camp through camperships. Girl Scouts gave me the confidence to enlist and serve in the Coast Guard for fifteen years, earn my degree and essentially claw my way out of poverty. I would not have been able to do that if Girl Scouts wasn’t in my life. I want to make sure all our girls have these opportunities."

—Charissa Ramp, Juliette Gordon Low Society Member

Juliette Gordon Low Society members have made a commitment to share their legacy with the next generation of Girl Scouts by leaving a gift, of any amount, in their will, trust, or other account for Girl Scouts of Northern California.

By becoming a Juliette Gordon Low Society Member, you help girls prepare themselves to become the leaders of tomorrow, to see that their potential is unlimited, and to pursue their dreams.

Make an Impact

Gifts that Pay You Income toggle arrow

Charitable Gift Annuities

Income for life, lower taxes, and influencing girl leaders throughout the country. That is what happens when you create a legacy gift through a charitable gift annuity.

Benefits to you include:

  • Payments can be made as you prefer on an annual, quarterly, or monthly basis.
  • A portion of the payout will be tax-free.
  • You receive an immediate tax receipt for a portion of your gift.
  • Your gift passes to Girl Scouts of Northern California outside of the estate process.
  • You create your legacy of girl leaders.

Charitable Remainder Trust

Income for life for you and your family while reducing your taxes and launching remarkable girls into our world.

By using assets or cash to fund the trust income and you receive an income tax credit the year in which you transfer your assets. The remaining portion of the trust, after all payments have been made, comes to Girl Scouts of Northern California.

Benefits to you include:

  • You recieve income for life for you or your heirs.
  •  You recieve a charitable income tax credit for the charitable portion of the trust.
  • You create your legacy of girl-leadership.
Gifts that Reduce Your Taxes toggle arrow

You can empower girls in leadership, entrepreneurship, and STEM to build a better world for all of us. What’s more, you can leave these generous gifts now and you may receive tax benefits to enjoy for yourself.

Life Insurance Policy Gift

Do you have a life insurance policy that has outlasted its original purpose? You can use it (or a percentage of it) to reduce your taxes and create a gift for Girl Scouts of Northern California, or your local council, that demonstrates your commitment to future Girl Scouts everywhere.

Potential benefits:

  • You could potentially reduce your income taxes.
  • You might possibly receive additional tax deductions if you make annual gifts so Girl Scouts would be able to continue to pay the premiums.
  • You can see firsthand how your gift supports our work if Girl Scouts cashes in the policy.
  • You can create your legacy. If Girl Scouts retains the policy to maturity, or you name it as a beneficiary, once the policy matures, the proceeds of your policy will be paid to Girl Scouts.

Gifts of Securities

You can use stocks, bonds, and mutual funds that have grown in value to create your legacy with Girl Scouts.

Potential benefits:

  • You may receive a charitable income tax deduction for the full market value of what you give (up to a maximum percentage of your adjusted gross income as dictated by tax law).
  • You could possibly avoid paying the capital gains tax on any increase in the value of the stock you give.

Savings Bonds

When you redeem savings bonds, you or the person you leave your bonds to will owe income tax on the gains.

Potential benefits:

  • You might eliminate the income tax on bonds you own that have stopped earning interest and that you plan to redeem.
  • You may receive a charitable income tax deduction for the full market value of what you give (up to a maximum percentage of your adjusted gross income as dictated by tax law).
  • You could possibly avoid paying the capital gains tax on any increase in the value of the bonds you give.
