Founded in 2021, Girl Scouts of Northern California’s newest Giving Circle chapter is a network of Girl Scout alums and friends who share a passion for making Girl Scouts more accessible in San Mateo County, including to many girls in low-income situations. We pool our donations and award grants to selected GSNorCal programs and projects.
In its first two years, San Mateo’s Giving Circle awarded $52,000 in grants: we supported Girl Scout troop programs led by GSNorCal staff in East Palo Alto and Pescadero that enabled girls to gain life skills and learn about camping. We also supported upgrades to infrastructure at Camp Butano Creek that will give hundreds of girls and adult volunteers a better camping experience for the long-term.
Our Giving Circle meets four times a year, and offers additional social activities. We make a difference for girls, while connecting with an amazing group of women!
