The Gold Award is our highest award, where Girl Scouts take action to make a lasting impact in the world. Gold Award Girl Scout Rojie E. took on dementia awareness in Sri Lanka for her project, building a website with videos and resources on dementia statistics, symptoms, and preventative care in both English and Sinhala. Her pamphlet was distributed to hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies across Sri Lanka, and her informational video was presented to the Sri Lanka Mental Health Foundation to use for further trainings to help seniors in Sri Lanka prevent and diagnose dementia earlier.
This year, GSUSA awarded 110 recipients with the 2023 GSUSA Gold Award Scholarship. This is made possible in part by the Kappa Delta Foundation, GSUSA Board Members and philanthropists Diane Tipton, Robyn Ratcliffe Manzini and Aldo Manzini, and funds from Girl Scouts of the USA. Rojie is the most recent Girl Scout from our council to win this amazing scholarship. Congratulations, Rojie, on earning your Gold Award and the GSUSA Gold Award scholarship!
