SAN FRANCISCO, CA — On Saturday, April 25, 2026, thousands of Girl Scouts will gather in San Francisco for one of the most anticipated events of the year: Golden Gate Bridging. Hosted by Girl Scouts of Northern California, this signature celebration marks an important rite of passage as girls advance to the next level of their Girl Scout journey.
Now in its 39th year, Golden Gate Bridging has become a treasured tradition for Girl Scouts across the country. In April, an estimated 4,000 to 4,500 Girl Scouts and their families are expected to join the celebration, making it one of the largest Girl Scout events in the region.
Bridging symbolizes personal growth, new challenges, and exciting opportunities ahead. For 5th grade Juniors, it marks the transition to Cadettes, when girls take on more leadership, expand their skills, and deepen their impact in the community. Older Girl Scouts in grades 6 through 12 who missed their chance to bridge since 2019 will also have the opportunity to participate and be recognized.
The event begins with a symbolic walk across the Golden Gate Bridge, followed by a celebration on Crissy Field featuring music, crafts, hands-on activities, and information booths that highlight what’s next for older Girl Scouts. Each registered participant will receive a commemorative Golden Gate Bridging patch and pin.
“Golden Gate Bridging is a beloved tradition that celebrates growth, leadership, and community,” said Mary-Jane Strom, CEO of Girl Scouts of Northern California. “We are thrilled to welcome troops from near and far and are excited to partner with donors, elected officials, volunteers, and local businesses to make this an unforgettable experience for every participating Girl Scout.”
Registration opens November 1 for GSNorCal members and November 17 for out-of-council participants. The cost is $90 for in-council and $135 for out-of-council attendees, and all participants, including adults, must register by April 10, 2026. A limited number of hotel rooms are available at a discounted group rate at Hotel Riu Plaza Fisherman’s Wharf, and shuttle transportation to and from the event is included with Bridge and Field registration.
