Travel & Adventure

Girl Scouts love to travel—from the field trips they take as Brownies to the global adventures they go on as teens. If you love exploring different places and cultures, then Girl Scouts is the place for you.

You can experience all that our country has to offer, whether you’re “blasting off” at Space Camp in Alabama, taking in a Broadway show in New York City, or visiting the birthplace of Girl Scouts’ founder, Juliette Gordon Low, in Savannah, Georgia. And you can plan even bigger adventures around the world, traveling with other Girl Scouts who share your love of adventure.

How far will your Girl Scout experience take you? That’s up to you! Get started with our Travel Progression chart

Travel & Adventure Programs include:

  • Council-Organized Travel  »

Girl Scouts of Northern California offers annual trips for girls in their Cadette, Senior and Ambassador levels from around the council to travel together and experience new adventures.

  • GSUSA Destinations »

If girls are looking for more adventure and are interested in meeting Girl Scouts from around the USA, girls can apply for a GSUSA Destination!

  • Troop-Organized Travel  »

Troops wanting to plan their own travel opportunities can start the process by taking Extended Troop Travel Training. EF Tours and Holbrook Travel also offer approved Girl Scout travel packages that fall within the Girl Scout guidelines that are great for troops.

  • High Adventure »

From white water rafting to rock climbing, GSNorCal has more approved vendors than any other council in the US, which means more places to try new activities.

How to Fund Girl Scout Travel

Financial Aid

The amount of aid varies for GSUSA Destinations. Council-Organized Travel awards are limited to the less of 50% of the Total Cost or $1,000. Financial aid is not available for troop-organized travel.

You must register for the Council-Organized Trip or GSUSA Destination before you apply for financial aid. We recommend that you apply for financial aid as soon as you're enrolled in a trip, as all payments are due in full 2–3 months from your departure date.
