Alameda, CA (March 29, 2024) – Girl Scouts of Northern California announced today the appointment of Kyle Garcia, a 3rd generation Girl Scout, as the new Chief Development Officer for the nonprofit. Ms. Garcia has had a long and distinguished career in fundraising with nonprofits and will spearhead the organization's development strategies through partnerships, capital campaigns, fundraising events, and donor recognition, aiming to secure essential resources for empowering Girl Scouts. Her appointment is effective immediately.
“I am thrilled to welcome Kyle into our Girl Scout family and to work alongside her as we continue our mission of empowering girls to follow their dreams and make a difference in their communities,” said Bri Seoane, CEO of Girl Scouts of Northern California. “Kyle's commitment to girls and women and rallying support for causes that enrich their lives is inspiring and motivating. She is deeply rooted in the community and passionate about Girl Scouting, which makes her a wonderful addition to the team.”
Ms. Garcia is an accomplished and innovative entrepreneurial advancement expert with a strong track record of success in leading universities and nonprofits in the achievement of their philanthropic goals. She has raised more than $68 million dollars over her 25-year career.
Before joining Girl Scouts of Northern California, Ms. Garcia served as Director of Development and Strategic Partnerships for La Familia, a community outreach nonprofit in the Bay Area. In her role with La Familia, Ms. Garcia effectively fostered lasting engagement and investment in the organization by galvanizing donors and partners to action and advocacy.
In the last seven years, Ms. Garcia has dedicated herself to the mission of health and human services in the area of Behavioral Health, and integrated wraparound services in treating the whole person. She is a key player in her community in this area, raising funds and advocating to address the culturally informed mental health needs of the children and families of the BIPOC community, and marginalized populations.
Ms. Garcia has also held the positions of Director of Marketing and Development, University of Kansas; Executive Director/CEO, YWCA of NE Kansas; Executive Director, Prairie Renaissance Arts; CEO, Phoenix Galleries; President of Business Development, Simple Wellness; and Director of Strategy and Non-Profit Development, Phoenix Solutions. Ms. Garcia is a third-generation Girl Scout with a near century-long connection to the Girl Scout cabin in Hayward, California. As the former CEO of YWCA of Northeast Kansas, she shared programs with the Girl Scouts of NE Kansas, including “Girls on the Run”, and afterschool programs led by YWCA staff in Topeka Public Schools.
“My Girl Scout experience set me up with a toolbox of skills that carried me throughout my professional life,” said Garcia. “I would have never guessed that the business acumen and competitive drive garnered in selling Girl Scout cookies would translate years later into a highly successful career. The values instilled through Girl Scouts shaped my character and set me up to be the community servant and leader I have become. I am honored to support Bri Seoane’s transformational vision of the 21st Century Girl Scout.”
A California native, Ms. Garcia is a graduate of California State University East Bay and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Communications.
