Thank you so much to everyone who participated in Girl Scout Spirit Week 2020! If you submitted your form by March 31, we have placed an order for your patches and will be shipping them out to you as soon as our staff are able to return to the office (currently, May 7, but is likely to be extended). For the latest updates on our office openings and other COVID-19 concerns, please visit: norcal.gs/COVID-19.
It’s time to get excited for Girl Scout Spirit Week 2020 (March 8–14, 2020)!
To show off your Girl Scout pride, have your girl or troop participate in any of the Girl Scout-themed spirit days as they wrap up the 2020 Cookie Program. To earn the 2020 Girl Scout Week patch, each girl or troop leader will need to fill out the online Girl Scout Week participation form (available here on March 12).
Will you wear your uniform to school? Invite your friends to join our sisterhood? Post on social media? Learn (or teach!) an outdoor skill? However you celebrate, let’s spread our green hearts and love for Girl Scouts far and wide. We look forward to sharing our Girl Scout spirit with our communities and we hope you do too!
Girl Scout Spirit Week Theme Days
To receive a free 2020 Girl Scout Spirit Week patch, members must participate in at least three Girl Scout Spirit Week activities, including Make New Friends Monday AND Girl Scout Spirit Thursday:
Girl Scout Sunday—March 8: Girl Scouts are people of character and conviction. Whether you’re Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, spiritual, or not religious, take some time today to connect with your beliefs and values and learn about someone else’s, too! You can celebrate today, on Girl Scout Jummah (March 13), Girl Scout Sabbath (March 13-14), or another day this week that means the most to you. Plus we have a fun patch for each of these three faith days available!
Learning more about the beliefs of others can earn you the My Promise, My Faith pin! Start taking steps to earn it or take a moment to perform an act of kindness—that’s something everyone believes in!
Make New Friends Monday—March 9*: Invite your friends to one of your troop meetings with these nifty invitation slips! The form will include a spot for girls to include the contact info of the friend they invited. Girls and adults, rock your favorite Girl Scout t-shirt or swag to school or around town to show off your Girl Scout pride.
Share it: Share the love! Be sure to tag a friend you made through Girl Scouts on social media with a picture of the two of you. Tag us @gsnorcal and use the hashtags #becauseofGirlScouts and #gsnorcal.
Get Outdoors Tuesday—March 10: Get back to your Girl Scout roots and spend some time outdoors! Ride your bike to school or work, watch the sunset on an evening hike, or enjoy the fresh air as you spend time with cookie customers at booth sales.
Share it: No matter how you choose to get some fresh air, snap a pic and share it on social media using the hashtag #GSoutdoors and #gsnorcal. Don’t forget to tag us @gsnorcal!
Change the World Wednesday—March 11: Raise your hand. Stand up against bullying. Search for opportunities to help those in need. When you’re a G.I.R.L., you’re confident, responsible, and committed to changing the world. Whatever you’re passionate about, make it your mission to advance your G.I.R.L. Agenda today.
Share it: Are you a Bronze, Silver, or Gold Award Girl Scout? Are you proud of a recent Take Action project? Let the world know how you’ve changed it on social media using the hashtag #gsGoldAward or #GIRLagenda and #gsnorcal. Tag us @gsnorcal, too!
Girl Scout Spirit Thursday—March 12*: Wear your Girl Scout skills on your sleeve—or your vest! Wear your Girl Scout uniform to school before heading out to afternoon booth sales and show-off those hard-earned badges of yours.
Share it: Find that perfect selfie lighting and share your photos on social media using the hashtag #gsnorcal and tag @gsnorcal.
Girl Scout Spirit Friday—March 13: Get out your green gear! Whether you add a Girl Scout tee to your usual wardrobe routine or rock a trefoil sweatshirt at the gym, let everyone know you’re a G.I.R.L. at heart.
Share it: Share a photo of your favorite Girl Scout memory on social media with the hashtags #becauseofGirlScouts and #gsnorcal, and tag @gsnorcal.
Community Service Saturday—March 14: Kick off the final weekend of Girl Scout Spirit Week by giving back to your community. Could the local park use a cleanup? Does the food bank need volunteers? How many customers can you get participating in Care to Share? As always, the best person for the job is a Girl Scout!
Share it: Share your Saturday fun on social media with the hashtags #GirlScoutsGiveBack, #gsnorcal, and @gsnorcal.
Submit your 2020 Girl Scout Week photos via the form (available here March 12), and we’ll send you an exclusive 2020 Girl Scout Spirit Week patch for sharing what Girl Scouts means to you!
