Our hearts are with our communities impacted by the Northern California fires. We are grateful for the firefighters, first responders, and volunteers who are helping to fight the fires, save lives, and support those who have lost so much in the Shasta, Trinity, Mendocino counties and beyond.
If your troop is interested in supporting Girl Scouts affected by the Northern California fires, please review the Fire Relief Fundraising FAQ document for more information. GSNorCal is organizing a Game Donation Drive for our Carr Fire families. You can drop off new card or board games at our Redding office by October 1. If you have any questions regarding the Game Donation Drive, please email Kristen Pierce or call her at (530) 221-6180. Troops and families can also donate to GSNorCal's Opportunity Fund, which will provide Girl Scouts with replacement uniforms and insignia.
If you or your girls were affected by the Northern California fires, Girl Scouts of Northern California is committed to replacing some of the Girl Scout items you have lost. Please complete this online Financial Aid form, or print out a voucher and bring it to one our GSNorCal stores. Note: Vouchers may also be submitted electronically to firstname.lastname@example.org.
People throughout California are feeling the health effects of the wildfires. Children, older people, pregnant people, and those with cardiac conditions, asthma, and COPD are especially at risk. The EPA has a frequently updated air quality map. If air quality is bad, encourage your troops to stay indoors as much as possible. NPR has more information on smoke inhalation, and how to best protect yourself and your troop.
