Saturday, May 2nd was a great day and a wonderful celebration. Girls travelled from all over California and 5 other states, to celebrate bridging from Junior to Cadette Girl Scouts. Many troops saved and planed for years for this “only in Girl Scouts” San Francisco adventure. The 6,100 girl participants celebrated so many of the things we love about Girl Scouts – travel, friends, adventure, learning new skills, dancing, silly costumes and meeting new people. Gate Bridging was also the perfect place for GSUSA’s National Board President, Kathy Hopinkah Hannon, and senior officials from the National Park Service, to announce a great new partnership – a Girl Scout Ranger Program that will provide more opportunities for girls to get outside and experience our National Parks.
Thank you to the GSNorCal staff team and the hundreds of volunteers – adults and middle and high school girls – this event would not happen without your contributions of time and enthusiasm.
