Opt In to the Troop Catalog and Receive a Patch!

Hoping to grow your troop this year? Opting-in to GSNorCal's online troop catalog helps girls and adult volunteers discover your troop and join in on the fun and learning! Fill out our online Opt-In Form and share what your troop likes to do, when your troop meets, and even the types of volunteer roles you’re hoping to fill!

After you submit your form, potential Girl Scouts can view your troop on the online catalog and see what makes your troop unique right away. When someone joins your troop, you’ll receive an email with the family’s contact information. To earn your butterflies, you’ll need to reach out to them directly, welcome them to the troop and provide them with key information about the troop.

If you opt-in to the catalog and add at least one additional girl and volunteer space by November 30, 2019, the girls and leaders in your troop will receive an exclusive patch. Plus, after you’ve opted-in, your troop can earn up to three additional butterfly rockers by completing the following actions before January 31, 2020!

  • Add one or more new girls to your troop to earn the yellow and white butterflies
  • Add at least one new volunteer to your troop to earn the pink butterfly
  • Host a recruitment activity and fill out the online Recruitment Activity Rocker form to earn the orange butterfly

FAQs

How do I opt-in?

Submit the troop catalog opt-in form. When someone requests to join your troop, you’ll receive an email with the family’s contact information so you can reach out to them directly.

How many girls can I add?

You can add as many girls as you want to your troop!

How do I help prospective new members decide if they are a good fit for us?

Make sure to include lots of detail about your troop in your troop description! Sharing what your troop likes to do helps set expectations and attracts the people with similar interests, so all your girls can have the best experience possible. You can write your own troop description from scratch, or mix and match the sample troop descriptions provided in the form.

What if my troop requires adults to volunteer?

All adult volunteers must complete registration and a background check prior to participating with the troop and working with girls. If you require parents or caregivers to help out with the troop, mention it in your troop description.

My troop opted-in last year—can we still qualify for the patch and rockers?

If you filled out an online opt-in form in the past, you can qualify for this year's patch by resubmitting an online form between July 1, 2019 and November 30, 2019. You can earn the three butterfly rockers by completing the activities listed above by January 31, 2020.

We’re a new troop just starting for this membership year—can we still qualify for the patch and rockers?

If you fill out an online opt-in form between July 1, 2019 and November 30, 2019, add at least one additional girl and volunteer space in addition to the pre-set 12, you’ll earn the patch.

You can earn the three butterfly rockers by completing the activities listed above by January 31, 2020.

How will we receive our patch and rockers?

We’ll deliver your patches and rockers to your service unit leader meeting for you to pick up starting in November.
