2016 Adult Recognition Award Recipients

Congratulations to our 2016 recipients of national and council awards! 183 adult volunteers, listed below, were recognized this year for their accomplishments, service, commitment, and membership with Girl Scouts.  Our dedicated volunteers are one of the key reasons for our continued success, and Girl Scouts of Northern California is fortunate to have so many individuals who share their time, talents, and skills to be a positive influence in the lives of others.

The Outdoor Trailblazer Award recognizes volunteers who make outdoor experiences in Girl Scouts possible and provided creative, recreational, and educational outdoor opportunities for girls.  Service can go beyond a troop experience to make the outdoor experience available to a wide number of girls.

The Maud Whalen Continued Exceptional Service Award is given to volunteers who previously received the Honor Pin and have significantly contributed to meeting council goals in two or more areas over a sustained period of time.  They consistently perform at a level that exceeds the expectations of their position and serve as an exceptional role model for other adults and girls.

The Eleanor Thomas Exemplary Leadership Award recipients serve as exceptional role models for girls and adults and have had an extraordinarily profound impact on girls’ lives through their empowerment of those girls.  They provide the girls with exceptional leadership opportunities through exemplary implementation of the girl-led model for at least five years.

The Ruth Robertson Commitment to Excellence Award recognizes volunteers who actively practice Girl Scout values and demonstrate a high level of volunteer commitment in various fields through at least ten years of service that essentially changes the organization for the better.

The Circle of Empowerment Award recipients empower others to deliver the Girl Scout mission and share their passion and vision for the Girl Scout movement in a way that lights a flame in others to serve girls.  They have given at least ten years of service and serve as an exceptional role model, mentor, and coach whose guidance enables others to realize their full potential in Girl Scouting.

The Thanks Badge II is a GSUSA award for volunteers who have received the Thanks Badge and performed service that benefitted the entire council or Girl Scout organization.  Their service is so significantly above and beyond the call of duty that no other award would be appropriate.
